The Engelgarten is one of Bergheim's best known terroirs. The vineyard is managed with extreme severity (very short pruning, plowing, composting). The vine suffers and produces small harvests of magnificent complexity.
Blend of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Beurot, Muscat, Pinot Noir. Organically and biodynamically grown, hand-harvested. Fermented with native yeasts in large, old oak barrels. Aged on fine lees and unfiltered.
Floral notes of honeysuckle, acacia, and ripe orchard fruits such as pear, apple, and quince. Subtle hints of white peach, citrus zest, and a faint mineral undertone reminiscent of wet stones. Vibrant and well-structured with great acidity.
