First established in 1975, the award winning Mastrojanni has become one of the most well-respected Montalcino producers. Mastrojanni makes a very distinctive, classic and long-lived style of Brunello. The scarceness of the soils is a boon for the 40 year old vines as they dive deep into the earth resulting in finer fruit character. They uphold low interventionist principles, aiming to preserve the natural fruit and character of Sangiovese as it ferments and goes into barrels for maturity.
100% Bruello, certified organic. Aged for 3 years in both French and Slovenian oak barrels of varying sizes.
Dark and full-bodied, and velvety with aromatic notes of ripe black cherries, dried florals, forest floor, leather, spice box, and crushed stone. Flavors of ripe cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice, walnuts, and a hint of mocha.
