Sandlands is the personal project of Tegan and Olivia Passalacqua, centered on California’s forgotten historic vineyards. The focus is old-vine, dry-farmed, often own-rooted parcels planted on decomposed granite, produced with a restrained, traditional winemaking style.
This is 100% Chenin Blanc from two Amador County sites: one parcel planted in 1979 with head-trained vines, and a second, higher-elevation block planted more recently. Fermented and aged in neutral vessels (a large foudre and older barrels) and bottled at modest alcohol.
The wine is pale and lifted, showing citrus zest, white flowers, saline minerality, and crushed stone. The palate is linear and bright with notes of lemon, green pear, and chalk. Finishes clean, tense, and mineral. Excellent with grilled fish, roast chicken, or herb-driven vegetable dishes.
